Basque victim of police brutality paid €170,000 after European Human Rights Court ruling

You can't get justice in Spanish tribunals but, now and then at least, you get it from the European ones (after two decades of delay however). The Strassbourg Court ruled in favor of Mikel Iribarren, a Navarrese victim of police brutality in 1991, forcing the Spanish state to pay him €170,000 as compensation.

Mikel Iribarren was hit with a gas canister shot directly against his face in 1991, the sequels have been important, losing part of the brain, mobility in the left body for long and bearing permanent scars in the face.
