Police attacked a building occupation in Soho (Westminster, central London), which was part of ongoing protests against the upcoming G8 summit in Enniskillen (British-occupied Ireland), arresting 38.
The occupants displayed banners reading G8 no!, while in nearby streets protesters marched with signs reading things like peaceful protest.
By law, the occupants could not be evicted without a judicial order, however police ignored the law again and evicted the occupation without awaiting for the formality, using a mere search order instead.
The arrested have been charged with the typical police abusive kind of stuff: public disorder or even possession of cutting weapons (utility knives surely).
The government justified the repression on the pretext that, while there is a right to peaceful demonstration, Westminster shop workers and tourists have the right to walk through the center of the city without intimidation and interference.
London is full of policemen these days.
