11 million empty homes in Europe more than enough to house all homeless people

There are eleven million empty homes in the European Union, while the number of homeless people is estimated in 4.1 million, reported The Guardian last week.

The most scandalous case, if any, is Spain, with 3.4 million empty homes, partly in abandoned holiday resorts built in the context of the brick bubble. Next are France and Italy, where empty homes are more than two million each, Germany (almost those figures). Large numbers of empty homes also remain idle in Britain, Portugal, Ireland and Greece.
